Black lentils Recipe and boiling orange peels
Everyday I appreciate different foods and find creative ways to use them. Here you have a simple lentils recipe and how using every part of a fruit, is completely possible.
Lentils
1 cup Black lentils (rinse with water and strain)
5 cups or more of water. I add a lot of water because I love my lentils to be soupy. Add salt.
Boil the lentils until soft.
Midway add powdered spices: ginger, turmeric, black pepper, coconut sugar, cumin, and sage. (I measure by eye, about half a teaspoon of each spice, and a spoon of coconut sufar)
At the end add chopped cilantro.
I had this with sauteed zucchini and asparagus and quinoa.
Boiled Orange Peels
When I lived with my parents, anytime my mom would cook something smelly she would boil orange peels right after. They offer such a delicious and cheerful smell and cut through any harsh cooking smells. Not only does boiling orange peels provide a lovely olfactory experience but oranges are associated with joy, creativity, abundance, and fertility.
Boil the orange peels in water and keep adding water as it evaporates. You can boil them all day. If you wish you can also add bay leaves, cinnamon, mint, or anything else to your mix. Remember, you can do this with any fruit. Pineapple skins are amazing too. And if theres water left over, water your plants with it.
